Kind of. I think it mostly shows how a lot of people don’t realize what could be the business model of a service that access to all your emails.

That becomes victim-blaming at a point though. When organisations like Google and Facebook spend so much marketing telling us we’re getting things for free because they are benevolent gods, can we blame people for thinking they can just get nice things for free?

That’s also true. My observation was more descriptive I guess. I also think there’s a growing interest in this topic, as far is explained easily and effectively.

There’s definitely been a move to more mainstream media coverage recently, especially in more progressive publications.
